Course objectives

To enable delegates to understand and practice the necessary skills and techniques to enable them to communicate effectively with their teams, clients and colleagues. In this one day course there is a chance for the delegates to self assess and understand their natural communication style and therefore consider where they may need to adapt it where necessary, to deliver ideas and project tasks when communicating at work.

What is ‘emotional intelligence?’ 

Understanding the barriers of communication 

The effect of our positive attitude and behaviour on others 

The power of ‘inner dialogues’ 

How we come across and the image we portray 

The skills of communication – listening, questioning and observation 

The importance of matching body language with words 

Delivering a message or ideas to others 

How to motivate and engage others 

Assertive versus aggressive language 

Negotiating to get a win/win outcome 

 

The ‘self perception inventory’ and the ‘behaviour types’ (assertive, aggressive passive traits) assessments will be used in this workshop and participants will be involved in many exercises. They will be encouraged to draw up a self-assessment and action plan.
